5 SEO Mistakes Pakistani Businesses Make (And How to Fix Them)
Every SEO audit Cresvi runs for a new client in Faisalabad, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi or Karachi tends to surface the same handful of problems, regardless of industry or city. None of these mistakes are complicated to understand, but left unfixed, they quietly cap how much traffic and how many leads a business’s website can ever generate from Google.
Here are the five we see most often, and exactly what to do about each one.
1. A neglected or incomplete Google Business Profile
This is, by a wide margin, the single most common issue we find. A business either hasn’t claimed its Google Business Profile at all, or claimed it years ago and never touched it since, missing categories, no recent photos, unanswered reviews, and business hours that haven’t been updated. For a local business, this is often the fastest, highest-leverage fix available.
The fix: fully complete every field on your profile, add real photos regularly, and respond to every review, positive or negative. This is core to what we cover in our Local SEO Services, and it’s usually the first thing we address with a new client.
2. Treating technical SEO as optional
A slow-loading site, broken mobile layout, or missing sitemap can quietly cap a business’s ranking potential no matter how good the content is. We regularly find sites that look fine to a human visitor but are structurally invisible or confusing to Google’s crawlers.
The fix: run a technical audit before investing heavily in content or link building. If your site itself is the problem, no amount of blog posts will fix it. This is why every website Cresvi builds includes SEO-ready technical foundations from day one, rather than retrofitting them later.
3. Ignoring AI search entirely
A growing share of customers, especially in cities like Lahore and Islamabad, now ask ChatGPT or Perplexity for recommendations instead of typing directly into Google. A business can rank well in traditional search results and still be completely invisible in this fast-growing channel if its content isn’t structured for it.
The fix: structure key pages, especially FAQs, around clear, direct answers to real customer questions, and add FAQ schema markup. This is the core of Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), both of which we treat as standard parts of SEO, not optional extras.
4. Publishing thin, generic content
Short pages that vaguely describe a service without answering real customer questions rarely rank, especially in competitive markets. We often see the same few paragraphs of generic industry copy reused across multiple pages with only the city name changed, which both fails to rank and reads as low-effort to an actual visitor.
The fix: write content that genuinely answers what a potential customer wants to know, specific enough that it couldn’t apply to just any competitor in any city. Our own SEO services [link to /services/seo] pages are built around this principle, real depth over recycled filler.
5. Inconsistent business information across the web
Old directory listings with a previous address, a phone number that doesn’t match your current one, or a business name spelled differently across platforms all quietly damage local rankings. Google cross-checks this information, called NAP, name, address, phone, to confirm a business is legitimate and correctly located.
The fix: audit every place your business is listed online and correct inconsistencies. For businesses operating in more than one city, this matters even more, since each location needs its own accurate, consistent listing rather than one shared profile stretched across multiple markets
The pattern behind all five mistakes
None of these problems are exotic or hard to understand on their own. What we consistently see is that they compound, a business with a neglected Google profile often also has thin content and inconsistent citations, because SEO was never treated as an ongoing priority in the first place.
Fixing all five doesn’t happen overnight, but tackling them in the order above, starting with the local visibility basics, then technical health, then content depth and AI search readiness, tends to produce the fastest visible improvement for most businesses we work with.
Where to go from here
If any of these five sound familiar, the good news is that all of them are fixable, and fixing them is exactly what our SEO services are built around, covering everything from technical audits to AEO and GEO to Local SEO under one connected strategy.
